Circadian Rhythm Disorder

Sleep is normal but falls at the wrong hour: the internal clock is stably out of phase with the hours of daily life.

Circadian Rhythm Disorder

The delayed-phase form is more common among adolescents and young adults, with estimates up to 7-16% depending on the criteria used.

How it works

It is not a lack of sleep but of synchrony. In the delayed phase, falling asleep and waking slide much later than wished; forced to wake early, one sleeps too little at the wrong time.

On the road

Those with a shifted clock who must drive early do so in their own biological night, on curtailed sleep: the morning sleepiness typical of students and young drivers is the direct result.

Drive Awake connection

It is the rhythm the circadian signal tool makes visible: knowing when your body is in phase, and when it is not, is the first step to planning the drive.
