Lab · a study for the platform of the future

From the promised website to the existing platform

In March 2025 Drive Awake promised a website. Since June 2026 it has been a platform: 2.0, brought forward. This is the same page, drawn with the engine we imagine for the future. The same data, another way of showing it.

The network, from 1.0 to today

Each square is a piece of content, each line a declared link. Scroll: the positions stay put and you see what is added. Tap a square to open its page.

As it is today

87 pieces of content and 252 links, read just now from the network file. This is the network that programme 2.0 is meant to make stable.

The same network, with versions, an archive and roles around it. Planned if funded.

IR describes the structure of the network, not its quality or maturity: a bigger network is not a better platform. IR = average of content and links as a percentage of the reading of 3 October 2026 (87 and 252), which equals 100. The reading of 18 June 2026 is reconstructed from the files of the time.

The phases

1.0The planned website

The original website: archive and periodic content, updated by hand.

2.0The platform

Since June 2026 the website has been becoming a platform. Here we keep apart what is available, what is proposed and what is proven.

2.1Consolidation

Planned by the programme from 2027, if funded: released only once copies, restore and rollback are tested.

3.0The 2030 scenario

A future scenario, separate from commitments already made. It guides the work and promises nothing.

Towards the 2030 scenario · AV30

AV30 shows how much of the 2030 scenario is built and verified. 100% is a reference scenario: not a promise of delivery, funding or effectiveness.

What it would look like today

The same platform at four moments. The 1.0 column is a declared hypothesis: what would have been enough to keep the promise.

How the work is doneUpdates made by hand, page by page, language by language.
What is measuredVisitor statistics, surveys and mini-quizzes.
How it spreadsGeneral search optimisation and a social media presence.
How it lastsHosting and routine maintenance.

A declared hypothesis: what would have been enough to keep the promise. Neither a judgement nor a cost.

3.0the idea
What the public seesA platform we imagine as living: before setting off, on the road, at a stop.
How the work is doneContent could reach the places it is needed: rest areas, driving schools, maps.
What is measuredWe would measure how many people recognise the signal and say they stopped.
How it spreadsThe signal under a free licence, which anyone could take up.
How it lastsA service that could last, with data that would stay on the phone of the person using it.

An idea, with no budget and no commitment.

3.0 · an idea, with no budget and no commitment
“If you feel sleepy, the journey ends here.”

We imagine the danger without a signal having its own signal, and a living platform that goes with you before setting off, on the road and at a stop. Your data would stay on your phone.

In Romansh «Sche ti has sien, finescha il viadi qua.»

What we are testing

This is a study, not the site. It replaces no page and may change. The figures describe what has been built, not how many people it has reached.

1A visible grid

Every part of the page sits in a cell. The structure is visible, and so is the status of each piece.

2The pixel as night

The blue cells follow Swiss time; a single orange row marks the threshold.

3The network as interface

The graph does not just illustrate: it leads to the pages. It is a way to navigate.

4Same data, two engines

The same data can take different forms; here only the way of showing it changes: that is the idea of 2.1.
